Acute Necrotising Encephalopathy of Childhood (ANEC) is a rapidly progressing fulminant encephalopathy with high mortality and morbidity. It follows viral febrile illness. Clinical symptoms are non-specific with fever, seizure, altered sensorium resulting in rapid neurological deterioration. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) features are characteristic and help to confirm the diagnosis.
