The relationship between spirituality and medical science has existed since antiquity, shaping the ethical foundations, healing practices, and conceptualization of health across cultures. In the Indian intellectual tradition in particular, medicine has never been isolated from spiritual thought, as evidenced in scriptural references, ethical codes, and holistic understandings of health. From the Vedic origins of Ayurveda to the ethical frameworks embodied in the Hippocratic Oath, the intersection of these two domains reveals a shared objective: alleviation of human suffering. This article explores the historical roots, philosophical parallels, and modern implications of integrating spirituality with contemporary medical science. It highlights how spiritual beliefs have influenced early medical practices, examines their relevance in current healthcare systems, and argues for aholistic approach that combines technological advancement with ethical and spiritual awareness to improve patient outcomes.
